Cherchesov awarded with international Arctic Awards prize

Russian national team coach Stanislav Cherchesov has been awarded with Arctic Awards prize in special category For outstanding contribution into development of national football and high sport achievements.

As the official award ceremony will take place on 1 December 2018 when Cherchesov will be attending EURO-2020 qualification stage draw in Dublin, Ireland, the award organizers decided to hand the prize over to Cherchesov in advance.

“Our nation is thankful to you, your coaching staff and the entire national team for the bright performance, infinite will-to-win sprit and excellent results at Russia-hosted World Cup in 2018. You literally lived out the slogan of ‘We play for you’, said Arctic World Club president Sergey Yegorov at the award ceremony in the House of Football.

“Our national team's success at the World Cup 2018 helped changed public attitudes towards football. We will do our best to keep moving in that direction. I am very thankful for the

Arctic Awards prize. Although it has been handed to me personally, that was not quite fair because our success would have been impossible without contributions of our entire large team. I will pass your kind words and greetings to our players at the upcoming camp. Again, thank you for your kind attention. We wish Arctic World Club every success in your future projects”, said Cherchesov.

The Arctic Awards international prize is awarded to prominent public figures, artists, businessmen and sportsmen for their contribution to the development of Arctic regions. Prizes in 9 categories will be awarded this year – Achievements in exploration and development of the Arctic and Antarctic; For prospective innovative Arctic project; Scientific and educational activities and increasing awareness; Literature and publishing; Charity; Environment; Cinema and TV; Outstanding sport achievements; Development of children and youth sports in the world. A special category for mass media has also been envisioned – For best media coverage of the Arctic and Antarctic. The short list of Arctic Awards will be announced in the coming weeks.
