Ferencvaros held to 1-1 draw by Gyirmót

Ferencvaros was held to a 1-1 draw by Gyirmót in a home match of Hungarian OTP Bank Liga Gameweek 22 on Saturday, the 26th of February. Gyirmót opened the score through Belarusian striker Vladislav Klimovich on the 26th minute. An equalizer came from Ferencvaros newcomer Fortune Bassey on the 43rd minute.

“It’s hard to find words after such a result. The team did everything it could to win but we still did not succeed. Unfortunately, I have a kind of a déjà vu feeling because we watched a similar match as last week against MTK, with the same result but could score once today. I have no claims about the players’ willingness to win. We have to calmly analyze the match against Gyirmót, all the more so because we have a cup tie this coming Tuesday.
We need to be patient with the new players and we know what they are capable of on field. We talked to Bassey before the match and said that he must keep calm and the goals will follow. It is always a challenge for a coach when new players arrive amid a season and are not available during the entire period of preparations and that is true for Anderson Esiti, Carlos Auzqui and Marquinhos right now”, said Cherchesov at a press conference.
