Ferencvaros to face Bayer Leverkusen in UEFA Europa League Round of 16

Ferencvaros will play an away match of UEFA Europa League Round of 16 against Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday, the 9th of March. The match will take place at BayArena stadium in Leverkusen. Kick-off is at 18:45 CET.
Bayer Leverkusen was founded in 1904 by employees of the German pharmaceutical company Bayer AG, whose headquarters are in Leverkusen and from which the club draws its name. Bayer were first promoted to the Bundesliga in 1979, and have remained in the top division ever since.  Bayer Leverkusen have finished as runner-up in the Bundesliga five times without winning the competition, a record in German football. The club has won one DFB-Pokal and one UEFA Cup. Bayer is currently in the 9th position in the German Bundesliga, with 31 points after 23 matches. Bayer defeated Hertha BSC 4-1 in a home match this past weekend.
Ferencvaros and Leverkusen met in 2021/22 UEL group stage. Ferencvaros won 1-0 at home, lost 1-2 away.
During his time as Dynamo Dresden goalkeeper, Stanislav Cherchesov faced Bayer Leverkusen for 5 times and, interestingly, all five matches ended in draws - 1-1 and 1-1 in the 1994/94 Bundesliga season, 1-1 and 2-2 in the 1994/95 season. The fifth match was in the DFB-Pokal cup tie of 1993/94 season - the full time ended in a 0-0 draw, the sides exchanged goals during the extra time (1-1), and Dynamo Dresden won the penalty shootout 5-4.
