Stanislav Cherchesov, Head Coach of Kazakhstan's National Team, addressed media questions at the pre-match press conference ahead of the UEFA Nations League home game against Austria:
The weather conditions will definitely influence our approach. On a difficult pitch, you naturally have to adapt your style. Let's see what tomorrow brings, but coming from Russia, I'm well used to these conditions. The squad has prepared well for what is our final home game of the year. The medical staff will give us the final word on who of the players is fit to play. Results matter whether you're home or away. Our previous match against Austria didn’t go our way, but that's just the result. Our gameplay has improved, as demonstrated in the game against Slovenia. The team has taken to the strategies we've practiced. For the upcoming match, we aim to capitalize on our opportunities in attack. We are counting on strong support from the fans.
Is there a chance that Meirambek Kalmyrza will make an appearance tomorrow, considering that aside from Alip, who is suspended, we don’t have any left-footed center-backs?
Kalmyrza typically plays as a defensive midfielder at his club. I believe that young players should compete where they feel most comfortable. It's not my approach to place a young player in a challenging situation. His participation is still under consideration.
How significantly might our team's playing style change against Austria?
Our style will need to adapt since we are missing two pivotal players, Alip and Chesnokov. I have full confidence in the rest of our team, yet some adjustments will be necessary.
Why wasn't Ramazan Orazov called up this time?
He struggled during our last camp and isn't getting regular games at club level. Sometimes players need time away to refocus. The door isn't closed - hopefully he'll be back for our next camp. We respect all our players.
Is rotation of goalkeepers possible in future matches?
We're still evaluating all our options as we prepare the team.
