Stanislav Cherchesov attended the key match of Gameweek 19 of the Hungarian Championship in Felcsút between Puskás Academy and Ferencváros at the invitation of the management of Puskás Academy,  on Sunday, February 9. The home side secured a narrow 1-0 victory, moving to the top of the standings, two points ahead of Ferencváros.

 

In the VIP lounge of Pancho Arena, Cherchesov met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a devoted supporter of Puskás Academy. He also had a conversation with Ferencváros president Gábor Kubatov.

 

“I was invited to the match by Puskás Academy's management. In the lounge, I met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who used to play football himself and is a true fan of the sport. He enjoys watching matches live whenever he gets the chance,” Cherchesov told Sport-Express. “For instance, on Saturday, he was in Spain on political business, yet he still found time to attend the Madrid derby. This i snot my first meeting with Orbán—he is a genuine sports enthusiast".

"During halftime, Ferencváros President Gábor Kubatov also stopped by the lounge. We hadn’t spoken since my departure from the Budapest club. He continues to lead Fradi, a club that Puskás Academy is ready to challenge for the title this season—as this head-to-head match clearly showed," added Cherchesov.
