Akhmat secured a 2–1 away win over Pari Nizhny Novgorod in their Russian Premier League Matchday 9 clash.

 

Akhmat broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Senegalese defender Ousmane Ndong coolly converted a penalty. Midway through the second half, Italian striker Juan Boselli levelled the score for the hosts in the 69th minute.

 

With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Akhmat struck again in stoppage time. In the 90+3rd minute, Portuguese midfielder Manuel Keliano turned in the decisive goal from a corner, sealing all three points for the Grozny club.

 

At the press conference, Akhmat head coach Stanislav Cherchesov reflected on the result:

 

It was a difficult away trip. We had already given a lot in the Russian Cup, while our opponents had an extra day to recover and didn’t have to travel. We knew it would be a tough match. I’m pleased the team managed to score in the final minutes. I think we played with more quality and didn’t deserve just a draw. All our substitutions were made to strengthen the attack, and everyone played their part in this win. We couldn’t allow a match like this to end in a draw. Full credit goes to the lads.
