Akhmat slipped to a 1–0 home defeat against Orenburg in the 5th round of the Russian Cup group stage.
The only goal of the match was scored in the 70th minute by Orenburg defender Stanislav Poroykov.
After the match, Akhmat head coach Stanislav Cherchesov reflected on the performance and took questions from the press:
— Congratulations to Orenburg on the win. They fought hard, gave everything on the pitch, while we failed to take our chances. These are the kinds of matches we need to be able to turn around. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen today. Now our focus shifts to the league game against Krasnodar.
— Do you feel that the ball just refuses to go in for Konaté?
— I don’t see a problem; this happens to any player. Mohamed is working hard in training and improving. He’s just in a phase that he needs to get through.
— Why isn’t Abakar Gadzhiev getting playing time?
— Because others are playing. He trains well, he’s in good shape, but today there wasn’t an opportunity for him.
— What can you say about the debut of Amadi Gadio?
— He came on in the 83rd minute. Amadi is gradually adapting, working hard, and becoming less hesitant. Today he got a few minutes in a situational role. We hope that very soon he will become a fully competitive member of the squad.
