Lechi Sadulaev and Egas Cacintura each registered a goal and an assist for the hosts, while Georgi Melkadze scored their other goal. Ivan Oleynikov bagged a brace for the visitors, with Nikita Chernov also finding the net.

 

Akhmat head coach Stanislav Cherchesov answered journalists’ questions at the post-match press conference:

 

— We need to watch the game back and understand why we were unable to hold on to our lead. Our opponents wanted to win as well and had quality players—in this instance, Oleynikov. We will calmly analyse who did what wrong. But sometimes you do everything right and still concede.

 

— The fans enjoyed the match because there were so many goals despite the difficult weather conditions. Were you happy with the way the game unfolded?

 

— Fans often enjoy matches more than coaches do. I liked the game: we scored three goals and played attractive football. The other side of it is that football is ultimately about results. We showed desire, played and scored, but there were moments when we did not do enough defensively. You cannot win on quality alone—that is what I told the players. We need to learn from this so that we can see matches like this through to victory.
