Ferencvaros to face Budapest Honvéd tonight

Ferencvaros will face Budapest Honvéd in the OTP Bank Gameweek 28 match on Saturday, the 16th of April. The match will take place at Új Bozsik Aréna stadium in Budapest. Kick-off is at 19.30 CET.

Budapest Honvéd was established in 1909. The team enjoyed a golden age during the 1950s when it was renamed Budapesti Honvéd SE and became the Hungarian Army team. The club's top players from this era, Ferenc Puskás, Sándor Kocsis, József Bozsik, Zoltán Czibor, and Gyula Grosics helped the club win the Hungarian League four times during the 1950s and also formed the nucleus of the legendary Hungarian national team popularly known as the Mighty Magyars.During the 1980s and early 1990s, the club enjoyed another successful period, winning a further eight Hungarian League titles. They also won league and cup doubles in 1985 and 1989. In 1991, the club was renamed Kispest Honvéd FC and adopted its current name in 2003.

“We have already played against Honved in the Hungarian Cup and I can clearly remember that match. Although it was an overall successful match and we won 1-0, the fans could see that there were two different halves. In the first half, we showed quite a solid performance but in the second, our opponent put more pressure on us as they thought there might still be a chance of promotion into the next round. I am sure that the match on Saturday will be different as we compete for the league title while Honved is now in the second half of the table. We have completed our scheduled preparations this week and are ready for the match against Honved”, said Cherchesov to the official website of Ferencvaros before the match.
